The texts below are provided for you to create a baseline interpretations for Individual Development plans. You can use other texts for this process. These are simply designed to give you a starting point. At the end of the monthly plan, you will re-interpret the text and see what progress you have made in improving the features that are targeted by your goals.
The Process
- Select one of the source texts.
- Prepare. Use the information provided to mentally prepare for the interpretation. Take a few minutes to predict what might be discussed.
- Interpret the text. Record your work. For hearing interpreters, have the camera on you when working with the English source and on the screen when working with the ASL source. (If you are using GoReact, this will capture both the source and your interpretation.)
- Do a stimulated recall. Review your interpretation and share what you were thinking at the moment you made the choices you made. If you are using GoReact, please put your thoughts in as comments. The idea is to make visible what you were thinking at the time of the interpretation so you (and your mentor/coach) can have access to your decision-making process in addition to observations of the interpretation itself. - Repeat process for another text if desired.
