GTC Interactive Interpreting Practice Library

A collection of 4 different Zoom conversations featuring deaf and hearing people engaged in conversation.

The Graduation to Certification Interactive Interpreting Practice Library is a collection of videos created from the GTC project that were created as an opportunity to give GTC participants authentic practice with actual conversations.  The CATIE Center partnered with the Duluth Branch of the NAACP to bring deaf and hearing participants together for Zoom conversations that were interpreted by novice interpreters. Conversations were recorded for GTC participants to discuss with their mentors. The CATIE Center then edited the videos to remove the interpretation so the videos are suitable for interpreting practice for novice interpreters and interpreting students.

The Graduation to Certification Interactive Interpreting Practice Library contains 80 interactive videos that are set at the pace for student and novice interpreters.  Each video is captioned and has comments from reviews by interpreter educators about what skills can be practiced with the videos.  The video is provided as a YouTube link and you can also download an .mp4 file of the video with a caption file and a document with the review information.  Video length is generally between 15-20 minutes.
