Discussion Partners: Ryan and Judy
Ryan shares with Judy his experiences traveling with his wife and a couple of friends in Central America. Judy, who is an experienced traveler, shares her own experiences and asks Ryan a variety of questions to learn more about his trip.
- This is a nicely packaged narrative, in the context of a conversation, recounting a trip to Central America that focuses on an effort to have authentic experiences in these countries. Ryan relates his experiences in detail, touching upon sights, foods, and other experiences. At the end Judy adds that while never experiencing Central America, she has visited a variety of other countries.
- This video was great for a slightly more challenging interpretation with lots of fingerspelling and storytelling. Good for practice with trusting what you see and explaining a story that may not match your schema.

About this Video
The interactive videos in this series were created in partnership during the Graduation to Certification program through a collaboration between the CATIE Center and the Duluth Branch of the NAACP. These unscripted conversations were interpreted by novice interpreters in the GTC program and the video was edited to the best of our ability to remove the interpretation to create practice material. There may be some legacies of the original interpretation such as repetition due to the original interpreter asking for clarification or sometimes all of the interpretation may not be edited out due to overlapping communication.
