Check Your Work
What were some of the key points in the video? Were you able to clearly interpret these points into ASL? Here are some concepts and strategies you might have used in your interpretation:
- To emphasize the concept of seasoning, a term known by those who cook with cast iron skillets, you might have both fingerspelled the term and used a variety of signs to convey it (e.g., POUR-oil, STICK-to-pan).
- To interpret the concept of the pans being porous, you might have used depiction to show oil seeping into the iron.
- You may have used space to clearly delineate the different steps in the cleaning or cooking procedure. For example, when the narrator described the process of scrubbing, drying, and then seasoning the pan, you may have shifted your signing space slightly to the side for each step.
