Objective:
To learn about ASL semantics of a particular ASL sign and consider how to interpret discussion of this sign into English.

In the video, Jay discussed the sign that depicts an individual “tipping their hat” as a sign of respect. Because of the history behind the sign as well as the general observation that women do not wear hats as often as men, Jay questioned whether it is appropriate for women to use the sign and if the sign is sexist.
